Setting the Scene

Hazard profiles presented on PreventionWeb

http://www.preventionweb.net/english/hazards/statistics/?hid=60

This hazard profiles presented on PreventionWeb is an analysis of the mortality and economic loss risk for Earthquakes. It sets the scene outlining the consequences of Earthquakes and other Natural Hazards. It identifies the vulnerability of specific countries which host the communities within the “Making Cities Resilient: My city is getting ready” Campaign.

Networking of these Cities with Early Warning Systems could potentially save thousands of lives and minimise casualty injuries, which equally have enormous cost implications upon society and administrations in addition to physical asset and economic losses. SOLUZION is one of several initiatives that offers the potential to minimise casualties and casualty $costs to society and administrations.

My City’s Getting Ready!

Cities and local governments need to get ready, reduce the risks and become resilient to disasters.

For the next two years and beyond, UNISDR will campaign together with its partners for this to happen.
The 2010-2011 World Disaster Reduction Campaign “Making Cities Resilient” addresses issues of local governance and urban risk while drawing upon previous ISDR Campaigns on safer schools and hospitals, as well as on the sustainable urbanizations principles developed in the UN-Habitat World Urban Campaign 2009-2013.
SOLUZION offers its Real Time Early Warning and Integrated Communication System to ‘All Cities’ enhancing their resilience, minimising their casualties
