LOSS OF LIVES AND DAMAGE TO INFRASTRUCTURE:
Loma Prieta earthquake, California (1989), caused more than 40 deaths in bridge-related collapses alone and damaged more than 80 bridges.
EARTHQUAKES CASUALTY COST ANALYSIS:
Kobe Earthquake (1995), analysis reveals that out of 5,411 fatalities more than 80% of these casualties died within three hours. There were statistically significant differences in survival/dying patterns among causes of deaths. 13% of victims experienced a protracted death, which could have been prevented with earlier medical or surgical intervention. The monetary cost of these lost lives was estimated at approximately US $ 600 million.
IRAN Bam quake (2003) occurred at 1:56 AM (5:26 AM Iran Standard Time) In this earthquake at least 26,271 people were killed and 30,000 injured.[1] In terms of human loss the quake was the worst to occur in Iranian history. The BBC reported that a large number of victims were crushed while sleeping. 11,000 students were killed in addition to 1/5 of the 5,400 local teaching staff. This caused a significant problem for the local education system.
Northridge earthquake (1994) Using dollar-equivalent values forinjuries accepted and used by the U.S. government for evaluatingthe cost-effectiveness of risk-mitigation efforts, the value of injuries inthe earthquake is estimated to be US $ 1.3 to2.2 billion in 1994 (90% confidence bounds, equivalent to US $ 1.8to 2.9 billion in 2005). This is equivalent to 3–4%of the estimated US $ 50 billion (in 1994) estimated direct capitallosses and direct business interruption losses. If injuries in the1994 Northridge earthquake are representative of injuries in future U.S.events, then the economic value of future earthquake injuries—the amountthat the U.S. government would deem appropriate to expend toprevent all such injuries—is on the order of US $ 200 millionper year (in 2005 constant dollars). Of this figure, 96%is associated with nonfatal injuries, an issue overlooked by currentexperimental research. The SOLUZION System:
How does SOLUZION generate Real Time Early Warnings during Earthquakes?
The sensors detect the P-Wave which travels ahead of the destructive S-Wave. Sensing and communicating the difference in the arrival of the two waves, allows a real time of multiple seconds early warning, enabling individuals to take immediate precautionary actions in preparation to the earthquakes arrival; these vital seconds of early warning making the potential difference between life and death, ensuring that individuals are not taken by surprise at home or in work, they are awoken at night prior to the destructive wave arrival.
What makes SOLUZION different to all other systems?
The SOLUZION seismic senors activated at the epi centre, immediately radio communicate the signal to all other senor alarm devices, jumping ahead of the P-Wave, effectively doubling the potential ‘real time early warning’ to individuals. All other systems rely upon each sensor recieving the P-Wave. Our diagram below demonstrates visually. SOLUZION Reliability:
SOLUZION is based upon proven technology able to monitor the status health of the system offering total reliability during the guaranteed lifetime of 10 years (minimum). Its characteristics include:

The SOLUZION system provides the opportunity to integrate with other hazard type early warning systems providing a united communication and data integration facility, relaying real time warnings through Disaster Management Centers potentially to every individual within an affected region using Wireless, Ethernet, Satellite and SMS technology and additional bespoke pagers.
SOLUZION Dynamics
The inherent dynamics within all SOLUZION sensors, relays, transceivers and software systems allows a multitude of future opportunities to develop and integrate as real time early warning technology and reliable prediction science unfolds within all multiple hazard types.
Applications can be addressed in two approaches:
1.  The Reactive Immediate visual advantage of knowing the extent of damage and which specific regions, facilities and communities are affected.

Event Assessment Technology
A key Development is the “fast earthquake disaster reporting system”, where the software is now able to report the intensity and distribution of quakes almost immediately after they strike using the networked SOLUZION System devices. It took more than 2-days to realize the disaster distribution in 2008. Now SOLUZION can determine the scale of a seismic event within three minutes inside a networked region.

SOLUZION for Emergency Services and USAR Teams
Mobile sensor alarm packs have been assemble for Emergency Services and USAR Teams for independent use in the field, providing early warning from aftershocks, for those operating within or in close proximity to collapsed and dangerous structures. The mobile seismic sensors upon receipt of a P-Wave aftershock relay early warning alarm signals directly to their personnel UHF/VHF radios, allowing a head start on evacuation or to find sanctuary.
The SOLUZION proactive Drill activation
The SOLUZION communication system can be used in reverse in order to activate practice Drill alarms within specific communities or sectors. The drills can activate from the local emergency management agency or specified control centre. With each networked sensor identified on a central monitor, individual or clusters of buildings can be ‘drill activated’ in conjunction with Emergency Services exercises.
